Gabrielle Renee White grew up in Inkster, Michigan a suburb of
Detroit.  As a bright, beautiful, young girl, Gabrielle could be
described as quiet and often reserved with a mature aura.
However, Gabrielle eventually blossomed into a charismatic and
radiant young lady - teachers and students alike at Inkster High
School were drawn to her open and positive spirit.

The Gabrielle White Story
Turning Tragedy Into Triumph
On August 26, 2006 life changed dramatically for the 22 year old
single mother of one.  While walking home from work late one
evening – a stranger appeared along her path wielding a pitcher
containing alkaline acid.  Within seconds of encountering her
attacker’s path – Gabrielle was left with third and fourth degree
burns on her face, throat and arms.  The attack left her alive but
blind, disfigured and with one ear.  Sadly, she lost the unborn child
she was carrying.  Gabrielle’s attacker has not been caught.
Gabrielle Empowers the Community
Over one year later, Gabrielle continues to adjust.  She attends a
training course for the visually impaired where she learns Braille,
typing, to use a computer and mobility techniques.  Through her
faith, church and spirituality, Gabrielle’s commitment to turn this
tragedy into a triumph grows by leaps and bounds each and every
day.  Gabrielle articulately and emotionally expresses her passion
for life and spreads a message of hope to whomever she meets.
Ironically, Gabrielle has become an angel of light for her community
reflecting courage and an appreciation of life.

On October 27, 2007 the metro Detroit and Inkster communities will
come  together to honor and celebrate Gabrielle White.  A
committee of community members, some strangers to Gabrielle,
along with the
Motor City Blight Busters, have organized an all day
Celebration of Life Fundraiser in her honor.

During this day communities will come together and show support
for Gabrielle and her family.  We will not only raise much needed
funds for the White family but raise awareness about violence in our
communities.  We will celebrate life and honor those that have
passed through utterly sickening senseless urban violence.  We will
enjoy family entertainment, arcade and carnival games and creative
activities for our children.  We will come together to appreciate and
applaud our artists and entertainers.  We will receive the Word from
many anointed pastors and ministers.  We will humbly unite together
during a candlelight vigil and prayer.  We will be empowered, we will
unite – together we take a stand against violence in our community.
We invite you to join us.
